The Department of U.G. and P.G. Studies and Research in political science, Bundelkhand College Jhansi, was established in 1949. Professor Sher singh kothari was the founder of the Department and an excellent professor of political science. Over the years, many distinguished professors have contributed to the development of department, including Professor Hari Narayan Sharma, professor Mahesh Prasad Gupta, professor Prem Chandra Jain, professor Iqbal Hussain, professor Sohan Lal Sharma, professor Prem Lata Mehrotra, professor Mohan Lal Agarwal, professor Vijay Gopal Srivastava, Dr. Savita Gupta, Dr. Mohammad Aarif and Dr. Rashmi Soni.

 Professor Kisan Yadav, who served the Department for over one and a half decades, is currently the vice - chancellor of kranti veer Tatya tope university, Guna, Madhya Pradesh. This stands as a remarkable achievement in the department’s history. Professor Mohammad Aarif is now the head of department of political science at Kashi Vidya Peeth, Varanasi, while the Dr.Rashmi Soni resigned during her tenure.

 The Department of political science has always excelled in academic and educational activities. Many professors of the Department have published their books and articles. Around a dozen research scholars have successfully completed their research work. Over the past few years, a significant number of students have qualified for the UGC- NET Examination.
