About the Department:-
The Department of English was established in 1949. The BA
classes were started from the academic session 1949-50 and the MA classes from
1960. The sanctioned posts of the department are 06 and presently, there are 3
highly-qualified permanent teachers with excellent academic achievements. The
department boasts of its erudite legacy of an outstanding academia with Dr. B.
R. Sharma, Dr. V. N. Pandey, Dr. G. N. Garg and Dr. Leela Kanal as its towering
stalwarts. The
Department of English provides courses both at UG (3 years, semester system) and
PG (2 years) levels. As members and Convener of the Board of Studies in the
past 25 years, the Department faculty has been instrumental in modifications
and revisions of the syllabi. The success rate of the students has been
approximately 90%. The methods of teaching are both traditional as well as
tech-oriented. The teachers regularly organize literary activities like Group
Discussion, Paper Reading and Poster Exhibition, Quizzes etc. to enhance the
academic potentials of the students and to help them gain awareness of the
latest developments in the literary realms.
